NCUO Amelia Bau

National Cadet Under Officer Amelia Bau joined the Australian Army Cadets in March of 2018 at 431 Sacred Heart College. She was selected to attend the Corporals and Instructor course in July 2018 and her Sergeants and Advanced Instructor course the following July in 2019. After completing the course Amelia was appointed as the Company Sergeant Major of her unit.

In December of 2019, Amelia was selected to be one of 14 cadets from South Australia to attend the CUO/WOs course in Puckapunyal Victoria.

Shortly after completing the course, Amelia received the appointment of Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major for South Australia. Being only 15 years old she is the youngest cadet to hold a Brigade position in South Australia to date.

Throughout 2020 Amelia worked alongside her RCUO to initiate online learning throughout the early months of the COVID19 pandemic. During this year Amelia was also a member of the National Cadet Training Committee and worked closely with the National Cadet Leadership group on initiatives and tasks. At the end of her tenure as the CDTRSM Amelia was awarded a bronze commendation for her dedication and service to the Brigade.

At 16, Amelia obtained the rank of Regional Cadet Under Officer for the South Australian Brigade for 2021. In April of 2021 Amelia attended ATA and received the golden boomerang. Throughout the rest of the year, Amelia ran and oversaw activities such as the Leadership and Instructors courses, the SA AFX and was the Dining President to the Brigades Tri-service ball with over 200 attendees. At the end of her appointment as the RCUO, Amelia was awarded a bronze commendation for her dedication and service to the Brigade.

In late 2021, Amelia was selected as the National Cadet Under Officer, and assumed the position at the start of 2022.

As the National Cadet Under Officer, along with the National Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major, National Cadet Adjutant, and National Cadet Training Officer, CUO Bau will endeavour to make cadets accessible to each individual youth member, from recruits to NCOs, by acting as the point of contact between national AAC HQ and individual units. She will ensure that the exceptional quality of the policies and traditions within the Australian Army Cadets are sustained whilst working to facilitate the implementation of the new Cadet Development Continuum and personal initiatives.
