Warrant Officer Class One David Rowe

Warrant Officer Class One David Rowe grew up in Canberra and enlisted into the Army Reserve in 1980 as a Rifleman with the 3rd Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment. 

On completion of his initial employment training, he moved to Adelaide and was posted to Adelaide University Regiment. 

In 1991 he moved to Melbourne to progress his academic qualifications and civilian career and served with the 1st Commando Regiment for 2 years. 

Warrant Officer Class One Rowe returned to Canberra in 1993 and was posted to 4th/3rd Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment serving in Reconnaissance Platoon. In 1995, returning to Adelaide and was posted to Australian Defence Force Recruiting – Adelaide as a Careers Counsellor. In 2001 he returned to Adelaide Universities Regiment as an instructor. In 2004 he was posted to 10th/27th Battalion, the Royal South Australia Regiment, first serving in a training capacity before being appointed as a Company Sergeant Major. 

Later in 2015 Warrant Officer Class One Rowe was appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of the Australian Army Cadets South Australia Brigade. On completion of his appointment, he served as a Career Advisor with the Directorate of Reserve Soldier Career Management Authority – Army. 

In 2022 he commenced his current role as the Command Regimental Sergeant Major of the Australian Army Cadets. 

During his service he served in the 9th Brigade Reserve Response Force and was Company Sergeant Major of the 9th Brigade High Readiness Reserve Company. He deployed on Operation ACOLYTE in 2006 and served on as Company Sergeant Major of Transit Security Element, Operation RESOLUTE in 2009. 

His interests are reflected in his commitment to youth development, not only through his service at cadets but his active involvement in his community having been chair of the Mitcham School Council and volunteered as the quartermaster and as Chairman of the Parent’s Committee at the 2nd Adelaide Scout Troop. He has been a regular youth sports coach for many years in both rugby and rowing. 

He is married with 2 adult sons. He graduated from Adelaide University with a Bachelor 
Science majoring in Psychology and holds postgraduate qualifications including a Master of Business Administration and Graduate Diploma in Government Law from Melbourne University. He is a Registered Conveyancer and is employed with the City of Playford. 

He remains an active runner and rower and is regular competitor with the Australian Defence Force Rowing Association competing annually at the Australian Masters Rowing Championships.
